Our February 12th concert will feature “Japanese Rhymes and Songs” and “The Four Seasons” along with classical ballet pieces such as variations from Carmen, Le Corsaire, Paquita and the short ballet Pas de Quatre.  Additionally, we will present “How We Play” choreographed by Howard County’s Eva Anderson.   The Washington Toho Koto Society will provide a musical interlude.

This concert will include guest performances by hip hop dancers Danielle Sten and Lance Guillermo of “On the DL” who will perform “The Encounter”.  We also welcome the Nona Lee Dance Theater.

 
“Classical with a Japanese Twist” features company dancers Carey Ballinger, Genevieve Ellis-Williams, Melissa Lineburg, Jessica Markiewicz, Emily Runkle, Amy Scaringe and Amanda Wade.

Please join us for this concert on Sunday, February 12th at 2:00 p.m. at the Jim Rouse Theater at Wilde Lake High School, 5460 Trumpeter Road, Columbia, MD 21044.  Ticket  prices are $12 for adults; $10 for seniors and students; and $6 for children 12 and under.

Free Studio Concert!

Looking for something fun to do during Winter Break?  Our next free studio concert will be held on Tuesday, December 27th at 1:00 – 1:30 pm.  The concert will feature popular dances from the Nutcracker along with several other pieces from our repertory.

At the end of the show, children from the audience will have an opportunity to learn a short dance and perform it.   We hope to see you there!

Busy weekend!

Thank you to everyone who came to our performances over the weekend.  We performed at the East Columbia Branch of Howard County Libraries on Saturday and at Milford Manor Nursing Home on Sunday.  Our audience at the East Columbia Library did a great job decorating props and learning an excerpt from the Waltz of the Snowflakes!

Misako Ballet Company will be performing at the East Columbia Branch this Saturday at 1:30pm.  We’ll be dancing 7 popular variations from The Nutcracker  along with some other selections from our repertory.   The program is for ages 6-10 and will also include a craft and an opportunity for the audience to participate in a dance activity at the end of the show.  Tickets will be available at the Children’s Desk 30 minutes before the performance.  Space is limited.

Misako Ballet Company will be performing this weekend at the Multi-Cultural Festival at St.Matthew’s .    Our time slot is on October 2nd from 3:30-4:15pm, but free entertainment will be provided throughout the 2-day festival, so be sure to check out the schedule.

We’ll be showcasing some selections from our  Japanese repertory along with some American-style Modern dance and Classical Ballet.

 

This will be our third performance at the Festival, hope to see you there!

Free Studio Concert

 

We’re getting back into the swing of things at Misako Ballet Studio with a Free Studio Concert tomorrow, August 20th, from 1:00-1:30pm.

The Concert will feature Misako Ballet Company members performing “Dance of Dusk,” as well as several classical ballet solos.  Student company members will perform “Song of the Sea” and a modern dance.  At the end of the concert,  audience children will be invited onstage to learn a short, summery dance and perform it alongside the performers.

Misako Ballet Company and Misako Ballet Student Company will be performing at the Central Branch of Howard County Library this Wednesday (March 11th) at 6:30pm.
Our concert will include classical ballet selections from La Fille Mal Gardee, Flower Festival, and Don Quixote, as well as original Japanese-themed dances, and a children’s activity.

The concert is free and no registration is required.  You can find more information about the performance on Howard County Library’s event calendar.

Join us April 16th and April 23rd!

Misako Ballet Company will present Free Studio Concerts on Saturday, April 16 and 23, 1:00-1:30p.m.  The concerts will feature a mix of Japanese themed, contemporary and classical dance.  At the end of each concert, children from the audience will be invited to join the performers on stage and learn a short dance.

Aid for Japan

For these two concerts, we will also provide an opportunity to donate directly to organizations involved with the Japanese relief effort.
